I hate weeding, especially by hand. I typically try to hoe them down, and then mulch over them. It allows the nutrients in the weeds to break down in the soil, and I don't have to weed as much by hand. In my current house, the garden beds are full of hard-to-get-rid-of weeds, one of which is this one. I don't know if it's a buttercup, but it definitely is a difficult to remove.
I ran out of newspaper, so I haven't finished the left side fully yet - hopefully next week, the newspaper fairies at work will visit. I will need to get some more mulch for the left side, and the new bed I have planned for the backyard (I don't want pumpkins and zucchini in the front courtyard).
Seeds have also been planted today... although it was hot, muggy and full of insects, it has been productive.
