Affluenza, by Clive Hamilton and Richard Denniss

Affluenza: When Too Much is Never Enoughby Clive Hamilton and Richard Denniss

I recently have had several large goals to save for, but had not been getting close to them, so I read this to nudge myself in the right direction. An extremely interesting read, although much of the information presented in this book I had read elsewhere on free finance and frugal blogs. It has renewed my enthusiasm for owning less, ignoring 'wants', saving more, and using what I already have (or getting rid of it). The figures are quite out of date now (2006 edition), and very Australia-specific, but the tips and anecdotes are interesting and useful.

There is an updated edition, released on September 2nd 2008, and an earlier edition, released in 2005. I'd really love to read a chapter in a future edition discussing the current economic 'crisis', possible reasons why it happened, and how people could avoid it in future or get through the current one. Perhaps the economic climate will spur another revision soon.
